This member of the Bombacaceae*
family was given this name by
Henri Lucien Jumelle and Joseph
Marie Henry Alfred Perrier de la Bāthie 1909. It is found on the
west coast of Madagascar from Itampolo in the southwest to Soalala
in the northwest the dry deciduous forests on sand or limestone. The
stem will grow up to two metres in diameter, the hole plant will be
from five to twenty-five metres high.
